In the mid-nineties, as the dynamics of our client base changed, due in part to merger activities, GTS saw an opportunity to improve the way we do business. Our move to a matrix-based team organization was a direct result of our desire to be ultra-responsive to our clients’ changing needs. All of our divisions are now organized into client-oriented teams. Our largest division, Graphics, has seven production teams, each with a complete staff of production control, desktop, art, proofreading, media conversion, and client service specialists. Complementing these teams are shared-service teams for operations that are capital-intensive (imaging, scanning, imposition, color proofing). Our team structure is frequently analyzed and admired by our clients, who know how well our teams work for them! Additionally, our unique organizational tactics have been visited and reviewed by industry peers from around the world, and have been recorded as a case study for a graduate business management textbook.   |
